Dr. Chia-shu Lin is one of the few researchers specializing in both clinical dentistry and human brain science, focusing on neuroimaging. Currently, he is the full-time faculty of the Department of Dentistry as well as the adjunct faculty of the Institute of Brain, National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU), Taiwan.

Dr. Lin has pioneered in using neuroimaging methods to study the affective processing of dental patients, with his earlier work on the brain mechanisms of pain catastrophizing. With a series of publications in dental anxiety and the brain, he has been concentrating on the association between pain and anxiety of dental patients for more than 10 years. His research work extended to the oromotor functions of the elderly, including the pioneering work on the brain signatures of masticatory performance and swallowing performance. He has fisrt-authored more than 20 research papers regarding the neuroscience of pain, anxiety, and oromotor functions. On these topics, Dr. Lin has been invited for symposial talks in IADR (2014 and 2017) and organized an incoming IADR symposium (2020) on neuroimaging and translational dentistry. This research work has been shared internationally, via his active connections with global researchers.
