Where will the 12th annual meeting of Association for the Scientific Studies of Consciousness be held? What is the address?

A. The meeting will be held at the Gis Convention Center, B1. 85 Sec 4 Roosevelt Rd. Taipei, Taiwan 106 (zip code).

Where will the poster and concurrent sessions be held?


The sessions will be held in the B1 exhibition halls of the Gis Convention Center .



Q. What are the deadlines for paper/poster abstract submission?
A. The deadline was Feb. 15, 2008. Our abstract submission system opened on Dec. 5, 2007.
Q. What is the open date of the registration system?

The registration system opened on Feb. 1, 2008.

Q. What is the registration deadline?

The early registration deadline is May 15, 2008. The late registration period is from May 16 to June 5, 2008.

Other frequently asked questions

Q. How do I acquire invitation letters or paper acceptance certificates?

Invitation letters to ASSC12 can be downloaded at the registration section in your account after we successfully receive your registration fees. A letter of acceptance can also be downloaded at the abstract submission section after your paper is accepted.


Do I need to become a member to attend? Are there discounts for members?


You don' t have to be a member to attend, but by becoming a member, you can get discounts for registration. Please refer to the ASSC member application website for more details concerning membership application.

Q. How do I obtain receipts after I pay for my membership?
A. Please contact the ASSC Secretary for more information.

How do I acquire a visa?

A. You must obtain a visa to visit Taiwan . For more information, please visit the webpage of visa information.

How do I get around in Taipei ? What is the most convenient public transportation system?

A. The most convenient system is the Taipei MRT (Metropolitan Rapid Transit System). For more information regarding the attractions along the MRT, please visit the webpage of local transportation.

Which of the below best describes your problem?

Q. When I'm registering, a window pops up with "please don't close this window". I waited for a long time, but nothing happened. What should I do?

This message indicates the communication process between your bank and ours. If the window doesn't close after an unreasonable stretch of time, this may mean that the communication has failed.


SOLUTION: Please try registering again (don't worry, we haven't charged you at this stage) or contact your bank.
Q. Not only am I stuck at this window, I also got some HTML codes right under it. What does it mean?

A. Answer one:

3D-secure verification is a function your card must have to do online purchasing. This HTML spaghetti means your card didn't pass the verification task. (Wondering how to identify this? Check out the "secure"and "3D" keywords. )

SOLUTION: Please check with your bank and ask about 3D-secure verification. Try again after you're sure you have that function working.

A. Answer two:

Your bank is trying to open up a page like the demo below to verify your VISA card (note the "Verified by VISA" icon) . However, it failed to do so, so instead, some HTML error codes showed up.

SOLUTION: Please contact your bank and see if there is anything wrong with your VISA verification, or try again.



The following line appeared: [SQLException]Insert into DB failed!


Unfortunately, our bank system cannot recognize non-English characters. That means no dashes, question marks, nor these: abc, etc.

SOLUTION: If you see any '?' on the credit-card paying page in your address line, name line, etc. then please change them into English letters such as a, b, ie, ae, etc, and try purchasing again. You don't need to change your profile information, just change the letters on the payment page.

Q. A simple "transaction failed" message showed up.

This means there are problems with your credit card number. Please try typing it again or contact your bank!


I registered but my registration status wasn't updated, what should I do?


If you have received a confirmation letter from our bank, that means your transaction is under process. If your transaction has successfully passed through, your status will be updated on the Friday of the NEXT week after purchase. (eg. If you have registered on March 31 (Monday), then your registration info will be updated on April 12 (Friday)). The delay is required to protect your rights and completely process your transaction.
