Each of them is specialized in some relevant field of Dentistry, covering
basic, clinical, and community dental sciences. Enthusiasm in sharing knowledge
and expertise is one of the common characteristics among them. The school is
further supported by many professors from the clinics and other relevant
fields. Problem-based learning (PBL), emphasis on
clinical problem guiding in basic dental sciences, and forum discussions on the
most up-to-date topics are the features of teaching. The students are
well-equipped to face the future challenges and make their informed
professional choices.
Inside the Building, in
addition to faculty offices and research laboratories, classrooms and
laboratories, there are also the most advanced experimental equipments for
molecular biology, oral microbiology, biomaterial, pathology, as well as oral
medicine.
The school boasts one of the best places
for clinical training in the country – the Veterans General Hospitals. The
students participate in the programs of the Dental Department of the Hospital
in fourth year. The clinical training during their clerkship program includes:
physical examination, clinical techniques, chair-side observation and
assistance, and pathological conferences. During their internship program from
the fifth year, in addition to the General Surgery and Internal Medicine, the
students have their training in each of
the seven clinical divisions of dentistry, i.e. Orthodontics, Pedodontics,
Periodontics, Endodontics, Prosthodontics, Family Dentistry, as well as Oral
and Maxillofacial Surgery. In order to promote teaching quality, the school has
established specific links with the University of British Columbia (Canada), and the New York
University (USA). Those who wish to study abroad will have the opportunity
before graduating from the school. |
